Work process 1.4 Executes parturition assistance (for the maternity care sector only)

Assignment 1 Provide support to the woman in childbed and her partner during a delivery. In addition, provide assistance to the midwife and/or obstetrician by organising and passing materials and resources. Before having this work process evaluated, you must demonstrate that you are competent to carry out parturition assistance.

Assignment 2 Write a report about the assistance you have provided to the woman in childbed and her partner and the assistance you have provided to the midwife and/or obstetrician during a delivery.

Include the following components in the report:  the course of the birth 

observation data of the new mother and partner during the birth  the care, assistance (support), information and advice provided to the midwife  whether the woman giving birth and her partner are satisfied about the care provided  the way in which you have provided assistance to the midwife and/or obstetrician  the prescribed working procedures that apply during the execution of a parturition assistance and support to a woman giving birth and her partner  any details or unforeseen situations during the parturition. Result The parturition assistance has been carried out in a professional manner and in accordance with applicable protocols and laws and legislation as a result of which the proper deployment of materials and resources is guaranteed.

Evidence Provide the following items of evidence: 

A fully completed assessment form substantiated by the examiner  A report of the assistance you provided to the woman giving birth and her partner and the assistance you have provided to the midwife and/or obstetrician during the birth
