Description of this exam
Your exam is taken in a moderately complex care situation.
The carer monitors, supervises and encourages the client in maintaining psychosocial and
social self-help skills. You encourage the client to direct his/her life and to maintain his/her
identity and fulfilment of life as much as possible. You also counsel the client in dealing with
and handling the consequences brought about by the handicap, disability, therapy or
treatment.
Provide guidance in psychosocial and social function, in maintaining and reinforcing the
social network and entering into and maintaining contacts.
Create the most optimal living environment possible for a group and include the next of kin
and/or volunteers as required.
Promote the most optimal group climate possible. Observe the group processes and
behaviour of the clients. Help the client to obtain insight into his/her behaviour and the
effect of this behaviour on others in the group. Mediate or intervene in the case of conflicts.
Discuss this in the group if required.
The objective is that the group of clients feels they are being treated appropriately, as per
their personal needs and requirements and the client retains an optimal extent of autonomy.
